Our new CONNECTIONS Magazine Cover Design Contest for 1st-5th grades ties closely to the Ag in the Classroom (AITC) presentations. It’s a great way for students to show what they’ve learned about food and farming. The grand prize winning design will appear as the front cover of the April-May 2020 issue of DeKalb County Farm Bureau CONNECTIONS magazine, received by over 6,000 families!
Each grade has a different theme. Following a teacher-guided ag lesson or AITC presentation, students create their designs based on the theme. To facilitate a whole-class effort, we encourage teachers to allow time during class for designs to be created.
Members of our Agricultural Literacy Committee serve as the judging panel, choosing first through third place winners and honorable mention recipients for each grade level. The grand prize winner will be chosen by Farm Bureau magazine staff. Recognition of winners and their teachers will take place during the Awards Night on April 2, 2020 at the Farm Bureau Center for Agriculture.
Past Design Contest Winners
The CONNECTIONS Magazine Cover Design Contest replaces the placemat design contest held in past years. The following images are recent winners of the placemat contest. Teachers, please note that entries for the magazine cover design contest must be oriented vertically rather than horizontally as in the past.
